With this new theatrical intervention, Jean-Luc Courcoult, author, director and founder of the company, continues his poetic adventure. Jack London’s "The Call of the Wild" guided this imaginary situation that showcases explorers, settled on the roof of a building, Mendes France square, that will see their day to day life sync to violent winds and freezing breeze.
Monsieur Bourgogne’s winter holidays
"Monsieur Bourgogne's winter holidays" is an imaginary situation showcased as part of the Great Bellevue project, from the 22nd of February to the 5th of March of 2022.
When I woke up this morning in my sleeping bag, my tent had disappeared. The wind howled so hard, it was pulling my ears against my cheeks I stayed put, tucked in, warm under the duvet. In the morning, the storm broke. I poked my head out like a snail from its shell and saw the world in white: all around, the mountains had become giant icebergs.
As I was standing, I saw coming towards me an igloo on a big sledge, pulled by 3 dogs. The dogs stopped near me, and one of them came up to me to say (speaking!): - You'll have a cup of hot chocolate with us, won't you? That said, the other two stood kindly in front of the entrance of the house to invite me in... So I went inside.
The flat was bigger than I had imagined: all of a sudden it became almost like a little circus tent; but the table, chairs, sofa and all the furniture were made of transparent glass. A little girl put a block of ice then poured hot chocolate slowly melting the cup into smoke. I drank it while looking at the people wrapped in furs. They were so kind that they gave me clothes against the cold...
On the way out, the dogs had frozen like porcelain ceramic statues. One was sitting, the other standing, and the third was lying down. Then they slid down the slopes like penguins on their bellies. Following them, I discovered a telepheric cabin on the pack ice, as red as my Fiat 500. I climbed in. Hundreds of pink flamingos from above hung strings to lift me into the sky. I flew through the clouds...
Then they dropped me off at the same place where my Fiat was parked last year, on the wall in front of the Bellevue market. My toes, excited, were lengthening with pleasure! Outside the cabin, I saw : an igloo, a loaded sled, a weather antenna, frozen porcelain dogs and, in the quiet flakes, very busy people.
And I realized that this was my winter camp, on the roof of Bellevue. I was so happy: squirrels were coming out of my ears, doing somersaults. Monsieur Bourgogne
