In 1988, on Sylvie Depont’s initiative, we were given a “carte blanche” by the French Association of Artistic Action (FAAA), the cultural body of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to create something in Morocco. With the aim of fostering the creative cohesion, we decided to build all our images on site, so we only travelled with our tool cases. We decided to spot the villages of South-Morocco and the adventure lasted for three months, going from Marrakech to Zagora at the doors of the desert.

The souks were the only places with a high concentration of people, so we had to find a show form and a storyline that would fit for it; therefore, we needed a story that was split in different small places, even some selling counter of 2 or 3m square for fix actions, and mobile images or actors through the Souk.
After one month of work in the small village of Asni located 40km from Marrakech, we met Bougema (a Moroccan story teller) who followed us in tour, acting and translating the texts that we created together.
